Health services
Our Health Team provides a wide range of services. Staff are based at the Queens Road Community Centre but can also see you at home or in the baby clinic at St James Health Centre. They also visit local playgroups, nurseries and schools.
Our Health Visitor and Community Nursery Nurse give information and advice on: diet and feeding, child development and behaviour, sleep, minor illnesses, accident prevention and play activities. They run the New Baby and Under 1s group at the Centre. They can also give advice and support about your own health and wellbeing.
Our Midwife offers information and support to women and their partners when planning a pregnancy, during pregnancy and for six weeks after the baby is born. She runs an ante and postnatal ‘drop in’ and sessions on keeping healthy in pregnancy. She can also give support if you want to give up smoking.
Our Speech and Language Therapist can give information and advice on your child’s talking and language development. If your child has difficulty talking she can provide advice, therapy at home or referral to specialist services. She is available at Rhyme Time to discuss any concerns or you can make an appointment to see her at another time.
Our Dietitian can offer advice about your child’s diet and also your own diet. She runs a ‘drop in’ session at St James Health Centre and healthy eating activities.
Our Clinical Psychologist offers support to parents or carers of pre-school aged children with social and communication difficulties or autism spectrum disorder.
